GlassFind™ | Micro-Glass Fragment Detection Device

GlassFind™

Micro-Glass Fragment Detection for Soft Tissue Injuries
Detects retained glass in fingers, feet, and skin when imaging fails

Overview

GlassFind™ is a precision detection device designed to locate small glass fragments embedded in soft tissue, particularly in fingers, feet, and superficial skin layers, in cases where conventional imaging such as X-ray or CT cannot reliably identify retained glass.

The system addresses a common clinical and real-world problem: persistent pain or injury caused by micro-glass fragments that remain undetected after trauma.

The Unmet Injury Problem

Small glass fragments frequently remain embedded after stepping on broken glass, handling shattered objects, or experiencing surface trauma. These fragments may evade detection on imaging due to size, orientation, or superficial placement within tissue.

Purpose of GlassFind™

GlassFind™ enables localized identification of embedded glass presence in superficial soft tissue when imaging cannot confirm retained fragments. The device supports targeted removal, confirmation of fragment persistence, and screening of suspected glass injuries.

Detection Concept

GlassFind™ operates as a localized glass-responsive detection probe interacting with material properties characteristic of glass within near-surface tissue regions. This approach differs from radiographic imaging, which relies on density contrast.

The detection principle enables identification of micro-glass fragments in tissue regions typically below imaging resolution.

Typical Use Areas

Feet & Plantar Surface Heel, forefoot, toes, puncture injuries
Fingers & Hands Splinters, grip injuries, breakage exposure
Superficial Skin Shallow embedded shards
Localized Pain Sites Suspected retained fragments

Typical Workflow

Key Advantages

Detects fragments imaging may miss Designed for micro-glass beyond radiographic detection
Localized identification Supports precise removal instead of blind exploration
Rapid assessment Immediate feedback without imaging equipment
Portable use Suitable across clinical and field environments

Use Context

GlassFind™ may be applied in podiatry, urgent care, wound care, occupational injury assessment, minor trauma evaluation, and first-response screening environments where retained glass fragments are suspected.

Position Relative to Imaging

GlassFind™ is not an imaging replacement. It is a localized detection adjunct for retained glass fragments in superficial tissue regions.

Origin

GlassFind™ originated from an unresolved retained-glass injury scenario in which a micro-fragment in the foot could not be located using standard imaging. The device was conceived to close the detection gap between persistent symptoms and negative imaging.
